Learn how to prepare a delicious “Discada” dish with Saltillense Pepe Ruiz as he prepares his award winning recipe, directly from his home in Coahuila.
Discada is a mixed meat dish popular across Northern Mexico. Discada is as spicy and flavorful as it is hearty. Watch cook-off champion Pepe Ruiz create this typical dish and learn how to cook it at your own home!
Where: The event will be streamed on this page.
Northern Mexico is home to the discada, a specialty barbecue style mixed meat dish. The name comes from the word disco: circular carbon steel plow plates have been given new life as open fire cooking tools for a cooking style unique as the chefs themselves. Each discada dish shows off the personality of its creator -and also vary by region. In Coahuila for example, discada is a popular meat and tomato dish.
While a typical discada is typically prepared in a large disco outdoors, you can also prepare it with a wok, or deep iron-cast skillet in your kitchen. Chef Pepe will teach us how.
1- optional: Prepare the following ingredients to make your very own discada at home.
2- a video on how to make a discada at home will be published here on September 15, at 4pm.
3- prepare your dish. Provecho!
