Here's to friendship
Austin and Saltillo have been sister cities since 1968. Many wonderful exchanges take place every year to bring our communities closer together. One example is the Saltillo Day in Austin Festival, which has been organized by the Austin-Saltillo Sister Cities Association since 2017.
While the 2021 version was a series of recorded interactions between citizens in Austin, Texas, and Saltillo, Mexico, and can be access below, we are thrilled to have resumed our in-person celebrations. Stay tuned for Saltillo Day in Austin 2025!
Saltillo Day in Austin aims to strengthen the bond between the two cities through various cultural, educational, and community activities. The annual festival includes art exhibits, performances, and collaborative projects that highlight the rich heritage and shared values of Austin and Saltillo. The 2024 event featured live music, art, local food, and interactive activities for families, providing a vibrant platform for fostering international friendship and understanding. One of the key highlights of Saltillo Day in Austin is the unveiling of murals created by Saltillo-based artist Chous, with the participation of students from Austin’s International High School. These murals are part of the Mexican American Heritage Corridor project, which aims to connect downtown Austin to the eastside along E. 5th Street through public art installations
Welcome and bienvenidas y bienvenidos todos to the 5th Annual. Saltillo Festival. Join us online as we celebrate the endurance of friendship.
