This family-oriented celebration is alcohol free. Special programming includes Mexican and Tejano music, folklorico dancers, and food vendors.  The highlight of the evening is the re-enactment of “El Grito”, by the Honorable Pablo Marentes,  Cónsul General de México in Austin. This year marks at least 151 years of celebrating “El Grito” in Austin at Republic Square Park.
